Â鶹ÉçPhD Internship - Sarah
Video transcript
Who are you and what do you do?
Hello, my name is Sarah Robinson and I'm currentlyÌýa PhD student studying at the University of NottinghamÌýand my research is focused on modifying enzymes toÌýhelp expand their range of activity so they canÌýbe used for more things.
But over the past three months IÌýhave been doing an internship with theÌýÂ鶹Éçwithin their exams and education team.
What project work did you do at the ABPI?
The goal of my intention was to develop newÌýmaterials for the Â鶹ÉçSchools website, specifically thinking aboutÌýkids in the ages of five to eleven.
So primary school and through a collaborative processÌýwith the team, we ended up deciding toÌýcreate interactive learning packages and put them onlineÌýand we ended up creating five different packages,Ìýall of which each included a small storyÌýto introduce three different topics.
Then within those topics there were animatedÌývideos to help explain the different partsÌýof the subject and then various onlineÌýactivities to help reinforce the information.
So like multiple choice questions, the option to be ableÌýto drag in words to be able to fill sentences,Ìýinteractive diagrams to help provide a bit more fun toÌýthe learning experience if you want to check it out.
It's called Ellie's Expeditions and theyÌýare on the ABPI's school's website.
What can you tell us about your experience of working at the ABPI?
Working at the Â鶹Éçhas been a true pleasure.ÌýEveryone has been so welcoming and theyÌýare all so very knowledgeable and haveÌýan amazing passion for their work.
I've loved learning how they operate as a business, especially asÌýI've come from academia, and it has been lovely to beÌýincluded as a member of the team from day one.ÌýThey provide me with amazing opportunity and the supportÌýneeded to help develop my own personal skills, whichÌýI cannot tell you how much I appreciate.
And despite having a stunning office in the heartÌýof London, they offer incredible flexibility and have everythingÌýyou dream of to ensure seamless hybrid working.
So it's very easy to commute from, for exampleÌýfrom Nottingham to London and still feel included.ÌýSo overall, I feel fortunate to haveÌýspent some time working at the ABPI.
