Pharmacists in production
In a manufacturing environment a pharmacist would initially supervise one or more units (such as packaging or tablet manufacturing).
Production is about making what is wanted when it is needed. The efficient management of materials is important,听and computer based 鈥媡echniques are generally used for controlling stocks. These will call for close co-operation with purchasing, marketing and other similar groups within the company. The design and application of computer based systems are likely to be important elements in the production pharmacist鈥檚 job descriptions.
The production pharmacist will also be responsible for the safety and health at work of their staff.听They are听expected to bring leadership to a group or department; this would include those individuals reporting directly to them as well as other groups.
Many pharmacists will be involved in solving day-to-day problems arising from equipment and material malfunction. There is also a role for the pharmacist in the development and modification of pharmaceutical processes for which their training makes them ideally suited.
