936X874 Disclosure

What doÌýyou need to know?

All Â鶹Éçmembers and any pharmaceutical company thatÌýfollowsÌýABPI's Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical IndustryÌýare required to disclose certain transfers of value - payments and other benefits in kind made toÌýhealthcare organisations that they work with.

Why is it important to disclose TOVs?

The disclosure of certain payments and benefits in kind is about bringing further transparency to the relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and the healthcare professionals and organisations it works with. It is a relationship that is critical to the future of medical innovation and patient care and as such, should meet the high expectations of patient and wider stakeholders.

In its guidanceÌý, NHS England recommends that NHS organisations should 'seek to ensure that staff who are subject to wider transparency initiatives such as the Â鶹ÉçDisclosure UKÌýscheme are aware of and comply with them'.Ìý

What if I can't find my healthcare professional on Disclosure UK?

Industry only collaborates with a small proportion of the UK healthcare professional workforce. If you search Disclosure UK and do not find the doctor, nurse, pharmacist, hospital specialist or other healthcare professional that is treating you,Ìýthen the most likely answer is that they have not worked with a pharmaceutical company.

However, it is possible that they have exercised their rights under data protection legislation and not given their permission for us to publish details of their interactions with industry.Ìý

If you would like to know if your healthcare professional has collaborated with industry we suggest that you ask them.Ìý
